Thank you for the shout out Jane, so glad the brilliant Sendak documentary was so inspirational! I'm going to listen to it again too! : ) Another jam-packed brilliant newsletter, I remember you telling me about your Glastonbury experience, which cured me of my FOMO too! : )
Thanks for all the inspiration and Happy New Year Jane! x
SOOOO good - and there are many other brilliant episodes including an excellent one on Ursula Le Guin. Glad I cured your FOMO too, and Happy New Year! XX
I loved this Jane and don’t know how it took me so long to find your substack! And the movie is Now, Voyager - a great favourite of mine, and @ellabeech ‘s too!
Aw thankyou so much Tor! Now, Voyager is such a great film - I can feel a Bette Davis season coming on... and I LOVE your Substack, it always makes me laugh so much!
Ahh, yes, I forgot to say that in my comment! That film had a profound affect on both of us I think. In my memory, we found him lighting both their cigarettes wildly romantic!! Great film! ❤️
I loved this Jane! The ideas box is genius!Y big goal this year is to write a brilliant story of my own that I can also illustrate! So this sounds perfect!
I love doing intuitive and playful art sessions. Did you ever catch my Mornups on IG? They were exactly as you say, playful art sessions to warm up in the morning before I start work! And now I do Art Play Dates on my Substack every month. I would love it if you wanted to join in one month. Forgive me for mentioning my own Substack here, but it seemed appropriate!
So much to inspire and motivate here, thank you! I would have loved to join your comics class, but I have a book to finish by the end of January, so I have my head down!
Good luck in all your creative endeavours this year and happy new year to you! Xxx
Thankyou Ella! I’d love to join in with an art play date - the older I get the more I see that play is fundamental to everything creative... good luck with finishing your book, writing your stories and everything else in 2024 - and comics will be happening again in the summer so maybe see you then? 😘 Xx
Oh yes! Comics in the summer sounds fun! I’ll keep my eyes out for it! Yes, totally agree being playful is the key to an enjoyable and fulfilling adulthood!! X
Happy new year, Jane! I love your festive armadillo. 2024 is a year of the dragon. Crocodiles are said to be inspired some dragon myths. Who know? It could have been armadillos! Good luck with your chapter book submission. How exciting! I'm looking for to reading all your creative endeavours this year. x
Happy new year Jane! There’s always so much fun stuff to explore in your newsletters! I’m definitely making an ideas box, you’re so right that things disappear in a notebook! Your frog book looks wonderful xx
