Ohmygoodness, all these amazing quilting children's book author-illustrators! I don't know if you saw Carson Ellis's Substack posts about her quilting projects, but I feel like you two would "😍/feel" one another on your lovely textile craft! https://carsonellis.substack.com/p/igquiltfest-part-one
I was just saying to Guille that I didn't think you'd mentioned what mad adventure you were off on this time! Five days of rowing sounds magical, you'll have to share how you come up with these adventures
Jane, congratulations on Mabel and the Big Wide World. I loved the video with an inside look at all your beautiful illustrations and process. And, the piecing of your quilt project. Have no fear, a busy quilt is a happy quilt, with so much to see and explore! :) I’d love to see your hat too!
Ohhh! I'm so looking forward to the BL ancient Egypt book. I love researching and learning new things for a book. This project must have been so fun. And obviously I love the time-traveling cat idea! Thank you for the shoutout for Pearl and The Sun! And congratulations on cracking the mystery of the blocks!
Liked the idea of making your own sun/rain hat for your river adventure!
It was so satisfying to do!! And amazingly it actually keeps the rain off too…

I have indeed seen Carson's quilts - SO inspiring, would love to meet her for quilt chat one day!

😂I’ll tell you all about it on Wednesday… It all got a bit alarming out on the Lough but I’m nearly home in one piece… and so’s that hat!

Thankyou Maggie! And I love the idea that a busy quilt is a happy quilt ❤️
Mabel looks fantastic! The mice are so sweet and I love how you’ve given them so much personality with collage (which is so tricky to do, I find).
Congratulations on your blocks too! Loved seeing your diary comic of the boy with the Big g and Difficult Ideas!
That boy is going to go on and do great things, I am sure - no limits! ❤️
Well done with getting the blocks on! I also switched to digital callipers fairly early on... so much easier.
SOOOOO much easier! I’m on my ribs now and loving using a cabinet scraper…
So much news Jane! A great read. So excited to see more of your time travelling book.
Thankyou Charlotte! 🥰

Researching is often the best bit! It was really fun to make a book in one weekend - I think I prefer working that way 😂
A whole book in a weekend!?!? That’s incredible! Will you talk more about that in a future newsletter? I’d love to know how you did it!
😂it’s only quite a small book! I’ll show you it in comics class next week if you like?
Oh yes please!
